Purple Yamaha virago 535 Cake

Yamaha motorbike Cake

When I saw the motorbike cake in the morning it made me say wow! I love the colour of the tank, luckily my friends mum had a pretty bike. The motorbike is a purple yamaha virago 535.

Roses Roses Roses Cakes

I learnt how to make unwired Roses at college recently and thought I would use my newly learnt skill on my parents Pearl Anniversary cake. I found a lovely pearl trim in my local haberdashery and used Ivory sugarpaste. How the leaves are placed gives an art deco feel to the cake combined with the pearl trim.

I made the white rose cake for my boyfriend, it is covered in marshmallow paste, which tastes amazing, it gives an amazing finish as well.

Holly and Ivy Christmas Cakes

I made Three Christmas Cakes of this design. I saw the design in a book, on an oval cake, I wanted to make it for years. I was put off by the piping. But since doing a course at college, the piping was very easy to do and changed the appearance of the cut outs, giving a richer feel to the cakes.

Paintball Cake

I am the slowest cake decorator in the world! I thought it won’t take long a couple of models, some paint splats and a bit of writing. This took ages, colouring the sugarpaste, cutting the paint splats out individually, making the curls separately. Not my usual style for a cake, but I’m really pleased with how it turned out. I’m glad my friend said no the boys when they requested the cake boss version of a paintball cake, I’d still be making it next year :)

Caravan Cake

Ruby Wedding Anniversary Cake

sugarpaste models

I made this cake for my friends parents Ruby Wedding Anniversary. She must have looked crazy, taking pictures of the caravan in the garden. I made the models look like them and their dog. My boyfriend made deck chairs, he very kindly remade them when I discovered the first set were to high for the models legs!

Bowling Cake

ten pin bowling cake

My Ten pin bowling cake, didn’t quite go to plan. I learnt quite a bit making this one, but mainly a simple pose for sugar models is better. I spent too much time trying to get the model into a bowling pose but she started to crumble at the knees. I had made pieces in advance and allowed them to dry.

Thomas the Tank Engine Cake

Thomas the Tank Cake
Thomas Cake

This Thomas Cake nearly got smashed with a rolling pin. It was not going well, I had to pull all the icing off and reshape the cake and start again. I’m really glad I did, sometimes you have too. I should have realized a Thomas the Tank Engine Cake was not easy. Thomas has been around for a really long time and internet searches didn’t bring up many good Thomas Cakes. Should have just made it my way instead of referring to the old Debbie Brown book. I ended up with 50% more cake than I needed, that made the children happy.
